Rustic oak barrique for furnishing

Our rustic wine barrel gets its individual look by charring and oiling the wood. Not only does it look elegant, but it is also more weather resistant than untreated surfaces. This makes it suitable for decorative purposes outside, but of course also inside. The barrel is approximately 98 cm high, approximately 70 cm Ø at the bottom and approximately 58 cm Ø at the top and bottom.

In our laboratory we smooth the wood of the barrels and the rings so that there is no risk of injury due to splinters etc. The rings are hammered into place and secured to the barrel with screws. This means that they remain firmly on the barrel even when it is dry, which is then given its individual appearance by charring with a burner. The wood becomes darker and the grain stands out even better. Finally it is glazed with a wood oil. This not only gives the rod a certain charm, but also makes it more weather resistant. However, once dry, the wood may shrink slightly, causing small gaps to form between the barrel staves. When used outdoors, the barrel should be oiled regularly (once a year) to maintain its appearance for as long as possible. However, the surface will change over time as wood continues to function as a natural material.
The product is similar to the photo, but is not identical, as each barrel wood absorbs the jet of fire differently.
